As the proportion of older people is increasing worldwide, senior health is becoming an increasingly important health issue1. Typical changes accompanying advanced age include deteriorations in physical performance and cognitive function that can reduce living autonomy. In particular, falls are a very serious problem, often resulting in marked restriction of activities of daily living and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). The fall rate in the general older population is 28–35% and is even higher in those with low physical performance.
